Common Questions & Answers
Q How does it dry?
Lanoshield cures from air circulating around it and it will dry as the softener evaporates leaving a translucent film consisting mostly of the protective lanolin.
Q Can you paint over it?
Lanoshield needs to be the top layer and cant be painted over. It is also strongly recommended that what it is put on cant fall off ie cracked paint, dirt etc as obviously the Lanoshield will be attached and this will leave small areas exposed to corrosion
Q How does it affect rubber?
A: Lanolin nourishes rubber to stop it cracking and going brittle. This means if it is applied to the bushes on a vehicle it will have positive results.
Q: Can you use it in other types of sprayers?
A: Yes. Most garages and commercial clients have their own pressure sprayers and these can be used to apply it very quickly over large areas
Q: What preparation is needed
A: Simply remove anything that will fall off ie dirt, lose rust etc. It is strongly recommended that you do not pressure wash unless it can dry out before you apply it.
Q What basic grade of Lanolin do you use?
Interestingly there are many grades of lanolin so this can be misleading, simply put though there are 3 basic commercial grades / levels of refinement
Grade 1 : as it comes smelly, and unrefined so will smell of sheep. This is why some products have that wet sheep smell and why we don’t use it.
Grade 2: This is a refined version of the above but is still not medical grade. It has virtually no smell and very minimal impurities, this is the grade we use in Lanoshield
Grade 3: used in high end cosmetics ie moisturiser , lip balms etc.
Q: Does Lanoshield smell of wet sheep like other similar products?
A No due to the grade of lanolin we use there is no unpleasant odour
Q Does your product contain Naphtha (petroleum Jelly)
A: No we do not use any petroleum based ingredients. When we started development on Lanoshield we wanted it to be non-toxic and from sustainable sources. We are non-toxic to avoid risk to those applying the product and most of our Lanoshield goes into the marine, aquaculture and agriculture markets where this would be very dangerous. Naphtha is also a carcinogen and this is a further reason we wanted to avoid it.
Q: Do you offer trade prices?
A: Yes, for customers who order in trade volumes
