Electric engines for GRP canal boats
This page is focused on GRP boats on inland waters ie canals and lakes and lochs
As a UK wide dealer for ePropulsion and focused on the canal boat sector with the new inboard I series range we have had an increasing number of enquiries about GRP boats but as GRP boats are much lighter they don’t need this power.
ePropulsion offer a range of solutions for this market that have the core values and useability that ePropulsion owners enjoy ie:
- Plug and play solutions
- No servicing
- Every made by ePropulsion so works seamlessly
- Virtually silent
- Easy to install
- Anti collision on the propeller ie it just stops when it hits something
- A variety of ways to use it ie tiller, side or top mount control running off blue tooth so no wires
Engines
There are 2 main options for GRP canal / river boats as follows
Navy Outboard range with a single engine perfect for up to 6-7 tons
POD drives for boats that are shaft driven
For most boats a Navy 3 (for boat up to 3 tons) and a 3kw battery will be more than enough power and provide a boat under motion cruising time of between 3-6 hours. If a longer cruising time is required then we simply provide a bigger battery ie the ePropulsion E163 and this will provide 2.5 x more cruising time.
For large boats we can provide a Navy 6 solution or POD 6 solution with the same plug and play useability of all our engines.
Please note these figures and based on the boat moving and not stationary and exclude any recharging from solar.
As ePropulsion make everything the installation of the outboard is simple and easy and backed by full technical telephone support/ videos guides etc in the unlikely event extra help is needed.
